Water. Elections. Kids.
What do these three have to do with each other?
Let’s find out.
First, let’s talk elections. With the presidential election coming up in less than a month, I thought it appropriate to have our own little poll.
Yes or No.
It’s been discovered that a common and well known substance has over 300K specific deaths attributed to it and more than 3.5 million related deaths worldwide every year. Proposal is to ban it. Vote yes to ban it; no to allow it to stay.
Think about that! These are very serious numbers and this is a global problem. Why would we allow this common product to stick around? What should we do? Seems pretty obvious.
I know you’re wondering what is it? And maybe, who do you need to talk to about this?
Well, what if I told you that substance is none other than… WATER!
How would you vote then? Does that change anything for you?
Drowning and toxins in water are the main causes associated with deaths involving water. And drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury deaths and is considered one of the most significant in accidental fatalities around the world according to the World Health Organization.
Still voting this down? Or rethinking the ban?
Let me remind you that most frequently, there is MORE information that is being withheld from one side in order to push an agenda, even if that agenda is just to defeat the opposition. Be careful what you sell out for…
So, now we have elections and water but what about kids?
In SoCal, the Pacific Ocean is pretty chilly. We do not have a warm water beach and if the air temp is not maxed (about 83F) or the sun is not shining, the water just feels cold. Ashly doesn’t even get in…ever! LOL.
But my kids LOVE IT. They endure it. They run into it like it’s Christmas morning. They receive it like a birthday present wrapped just for them.
There’s a very short episode that Jesus has as he encounters little children. Mark 10:13-16 tells of how parents were bringing their kids to Jesus so that he could bless them. The disciples thought this was a problem so they made a stink about it.
Jesus said, “Don’t stop them, let them come to me, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as them.” Then he said “whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
Whoever doesn’t receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it. WOW! Water, a most dangerous substance for sure. The kingdom of heaven a powerful force not to be taken lightly. But it’s in the uninhibited reception of this wonder that we find ourselves immersed in a world of unimaginable adventure, life, excitement, and potential.
I know it can be scary, uncomfortable, and even down right dangerous, feeling like our only option is to VOTE IT OUT, but it is the very source of life. So, jump in, head first, take a leap, and let’s find out how much more there is to life.
Jesus said, I have the source of LIVING WATER! (John 4:10)
So, may your thirst be quenched today!
And back to elections, our hope is not in a president, and the outcome of the vote is NOT from where our living water flows. Welcome the kingdom like a kid in the ocean!
